R v Geoffrey Lance Ryan [2009] NSWSC 46
The psychiatric evidence of Dr Allnutt and Dr Skinner established that the accused suffered from paranoid schizophrenia or a chronic psychotic disorder at the relevant time, and that his psychosis significantly compromised his capacity to appreciate that stabbing and killing the deceased was wrong. The accused therefore established on the balance of probabilities that he was mentally ill at the time of the killing and was not criminally responsible.
