Ben Ivanoff is found not guilty of the murder of Leonne Ivanoff on the grounds of mental illness because, although the Crown proved beyond reasonable doubt that he stabbed his wife and intended to cause at least grievous bodily harm, uncontested expert evidence established that at the time he suffered from a disease of the mind causing a defect of reason such that he did not know the nature and quality of the act or that it was morally wrong.
