R v Mutia [2014] NSWDC 390
The accused did the acts charged, but the psychiatric and surrounding evidence established on the balance of probabilities that, because of schizophrenia and an acutely psychotic state, he was unable to reason about his actions with a moderate degree of sense and composure at the time of the offending. The defence of mental illness was therefore made out and the accused was not guilty by reason of mental illness on all three counts.
