Having regard to the evidence, including expert reports diagnosing mild intellectual disability and paedophilic disorder, assessments of above average risk of sexual reoffending, the need for intensive supervision and support, and the defendant's limited insight and denial of offending, the Court was satisfied to a high degree of probability that the defendant would pose an unacceptable risk of causing serious harm through sexual offending if he ceased to be a forensic patient and that the risk could not be adequately managed by less restrictive means. A three-year extension was therefore appropriate.
