GKC [2022] NSWCATGD 23
GKC, due to his severe autism and associated disabilities, is a person in need of a guardian and is incapable of managing his financial affairs. The Tribunal is satisfied that the applicant has standing, jurisdiction is not precluded by existing court orders (as NCAT orders will only take effect at age 18). Neither parent is a suitable appointee due to conflict, denial of disability and lack of insight. The Public Guardian and NSW Trustee and Guardian are appointed for guardianship and financial management respectively, with orders taking effect when GKC turns 18 and periods for review set.
