Health Care Complaints Commission v Dr John Edwards [2011] NSWMT 10
Dr Edwards' admissions, the prescribing records and peer evidence established that he prescribed excessive quantities of Schedule 8 and Schedule 4D drugs to drug dependent patients, often without authority and without adequate management plans or records, and that his conduct fell significantly below the standard reasonably expected of a practitioner of equivalent training or experience. The Tribunal therefore found unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct proved and imposed a reprimand, conditions directed to prescribing, education, supervision and monitoring, and a costs order.
