Federation Insurance Ltd v Wasson [1987] HCA 34
The policy did not authorize the Wassons to act unilaterally to terminate the insurance of their interest in the vehicle. Condition 6 referred to termination or cancellation of the policy as a whole, so termination at the request of the insured required participation by all insured parties. Federation had also not completed cancellation before the accident, because no notice of cancellation had been conveyed to the Wassons before 27 June 1979. The respondents were therefore entitled to indemnity, and the appeal was dismissed.
