Singh v Minister for Immigration & Multicultural Affairs [2001] FCA 857
The Tribunal relied on the newspaper article only for the information that an organisation whose name incorporated Kamagatu Maru was identified as part of a terrorist alliance. Although the article named Amar Singh, that was not the relevant information used by the Tribunal; the named person was referred to only as a member of a relevant class. The information therefore fell within s 424A(3)(a), so s 424A(1) did not require disclosure. The sole review ground failed. In any event, the unchallenged finding that the applicant could reasonably relocate outside Punjab without a real chance of persecution meant remittal would be futile.
