R v Rotariu [2000] NSWCCA 546
Although the sentence was heavy and at the top of the statistical range, the sentencing judge correctly evaluated the utilitarian value of the early guilty plea, did not err in treating the family separation issue as of limited relevance on the evidence, and did not err in declining to find special circumstances. The sentence was not outside the range of legitimate sentencing discretion.
