EID [2015] NSWCATGD 7
Mr EID continued to have a disability caused by severe brain injury and cognitive impairment that prevented him from making important life decisions. Although he no longer required a guardian for legal services, conditional release, health care, medical or dental treatment, or services, he still required a substitute decision-maker for accommodation because any aged care placement remained provisional, he could not consent to accommodation, and the appointment would provide a primary carer for release planning. The Public Guardian was therefore reappointed for 18 months with an accommodation function.
