On the balance of probabilities the court accepted the Crown's psychiatric evidence (Dr. Kronfli) that the accused was suffering from a delusional disorder at the time of the offence which rendered him incapable of appreciating the nature and quality of his acts or of knowing they were wrong; accordingly the guilty plea was not accepted and the accused was found not criminally responsible under s.16(1).
