Ratio Decidendi

The court assessed the children's reasonable needs and parties' means at trial, found T's living cost in France reasonable at HKD12,800/month and A's reasonable monthly needs in Manila at HKD24,799.24, found respondent lacked immediate means to meet A's needs while petitioner retained substantial assets and therefore ordered variation: petitioner to pay HKD24,799.24/month from 1 Jan 2017 to 1 Jun 2019 then HKD12,800/month from 1 Jul 2019 until A reaches 18 or finishes full-time education; petitioner to reimburse reasonable flight costs when A travels to Hong Kong; no backdating of variation prior to 1 Sep 2016 beyond the limited finding; no order as to costs (order nisi).
