Because the State had itself entrusted the investigation to the CBI and the Allahabad High Court was actively monitoring the matter in a suo motu PIL, the Supreme Court would not divest the High Court of monitoring; the CBI shall report to the High Court and the High Court may consider all aspects including intervention requests, appointment of Special Public Prosecutor and trial transfer. As a confidence-building measure, security for the victim's family and witnesses is directed to be provided by the CRPF. The High Court is directed to delete/morph disclosure of family names in its order in accordance with s.228A IPC.
