Th8 law is that provac.ation is no defo- nce to the offence of assault. So the appellant was p r o ~ oomrict.ed.. As for .sentence I think it was on the low side. The assault on the victim was -rcry brutal. 1.the appellant c•.::;saulted his concubine on the head with a club until she lost conscic· .,::ness. There was a fracture of the head. Only luck was on the side of the victim, otherwise she would have died.. The two yee.,rs of impriso:--1:.1ent impose,i was a very light sentence in comparison with the harm ycrpetrat~d.
