The Respondent's summary dismissal of the Applicant was procedurally improper and irrational. The employment contract did not constitute a probationary contract within the meaning of the Employment Act, and the Respondent failed to afford the Applicant a fair hearing, breaching constitutional and common law requirements of natural justice. The Staff Appeals Committee acted outside its jurisdiction by hearing the matter as a committee of first instance and by upholding the dismissal based on a new, unnotified allegation.
