The High Court held that the right to appeal against orders of the Law Council Disciplinary Committee is strictly governed by Section 22 of the Advocates Act, which requires a notice of appeal to be filed within 14 days of the ruling and a memorandum of appeal within 30 days thereafter. The appellant filed his notice of appeal eight months after the ruling and failed to file a memorandum of appeal, with no application for extension of time. The enabling statute does not provide for extension of the limitation period, and the court has no jurisdiction to entertain appeals filed outside the prescribed period.
