  1. 1 Whether the sentence of 15 years imprisonment for aggravated robbery was harsh and manifestly excessive in the circumstances of the case.
  2. 2 Whether the trial judge properly considered all relevant mitigating and aggravating factors before passing sentence.

Ratio Decidendi

The Court of Appeal found that the trial judge had properly considered all relevant mitigating and aggravating factors before passing sentence. The appellants were first offenders, young, and had spent three years on remand, and there was no loss of life. However, the gravity of the injuries inflicted on the victim, who was defenseless and attacked at night, and the relationship between the 1st appellant and the victim were significant aggravating factors. The sentence of 15 years imprisonment was consistent with precedent and not manifestly excessive. The Court found no reason to interfere with the sentence and dismissed the appeal.
