The Court of Appeal is an appellate court whose jurisdiction is strictly defined by statute and the Constitution. It may only determine appeals from decisions of the High Court by affirming, reversing, varying, or setting aside those decisions. The Registrar of the Court of Appeal does not possess jurisdiction to dispose of appeals by entering Consent Judgments, as there is no statutory or constitutional provision permitting such action. The Consent Order entered by the Registrar in Civil Appeal No 23 of 2011 was a mere agreement between the parties and did not affect the judgment of the lower court.
