The court found that the claim for rent arrears and water bills amounting to UGX 4,992,421 was well within the jurisdiction of the Small Claims Procedure as provided by the Judicature (Small Claims Procedure) Rules, 2011 and Section 29 of the Landlord and Tenant Act, 2022. The tenancy agreement and the nature of the claim did not fall under any of the exceptions to the Small Claims Procedure.
