The Court held that section 65(2) of the Civil Procedure Ordinance requires every appeal from a Subordinate Court to the Supreme Court to be filed within thirty days from the date of the decree or order appealed against, and that this provision prevails over any conflicting provisions of the Indian Limitation Act, including section 12. The words 'notwithstanding anything contained' are broad and exclude the application of the Indian Limitation Act in its entirety to such appeals. The time for filing an appeal cannot be extended by excluding the period taken to obtain a certified copy of the decree.
