[2003] UGSC 37

The Supreme Court held that even if the medical evidence by Dr. Guma was ignored, as the trial judge did, there was overwhelming and unchallenged evidence from the victim and other witnesses proving the appellant's guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The alleged irregular admission of the medical report did not cause a miscarriage of justice, as the conviction was not based on that evidence. The Court of Appeal's misdirection regarding the admission of medical evidence under section 30 of the Evidence Act was immaterial to the outcome. The appeal was therefore dismissed for lack of merit.
