Administering a blood transfusion to a competent adult patient against his explicit advance directive and without consent constitutes battery. The lower court erred in dismissing the action for want of jurisdiction, as the claim was tortious and not a constitutional petition. The 1st respondent and, vicariously, the 3rd respondent are liable for damages for battery.
