The employer's unilateral variation of a basic condition of service terminated the contract of employment, entitling the appellant to terminal benefits based on the increased salary. The appellant was also entitled to purchase his personal-to-holder car at book value, and to the BP Africa bonus on a pro rata basis. Other allowances not claimed were not awardable.
