Article 57: The President of the Republic shall perform the following duties: - To be the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; - To direct foreign policy and decide on its programmes of action; - To grant pardon and commute sentences; - To receive letters of credence of ambassadors accredited to the Republic; - To award medals and honorary titles; - To sign international treaties and conventions.
