Official source1 Section 170 of the Mines and Quarries Act 1954 (provisions as to references upon notices) is amended as follows. 2 In subsection (9) after “Lord Chancellor” insert “ , the Lord Chief Justice ” . 3 After subsection (9) insert— 10 The Lord Chief Justice may nominate a judicial office holder (as defined in section 109(4) of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005) to exercise his functions under subsection (9).
