Provision text
Official source(1) A member of Parliament shall, before taking his seat in Parliament, take and subscribe before the Speaker and in the presence of the members of Parliament, the oath of allegiance and the oath of a member of parliament set out in the Second Schedule to this Constitution. (2) A member of Parliament may, before taking the oaths referred to in clause (1) of this article, take part in the election of the Speaker.
