Official sourceArticle 6: In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country’s affairs must be administered by reliance
on the public vote, and through elections. These will include the election of the president, the
deputies of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majles), the members of the councils, and other
such institutions, or through a referendum in such instances as are determined in other articles of
this document.
