Article 50 1. The Parliament shall consist of two Chambers: the Senate and the Mazhilis, which act on a permanent basis. 2. In the manner prescribed by the constitutional law, the Senate is formed by the deputies for two persons out of each region, city of republican significance and the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Ten deputies of the Senate are appointed by the President of the Republic, five of them - at the recommendation of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. 3. The Mazhilis consists of ninety-eight deputies elected in the manner prescribed by the constitutional law under a mixed electoral system: according to the system of proportional representation in the territory of a single nationwide constituency, as well as in single-mandate territorial constituencies. 4. A deputy of Parliament may not be a member of both Chambers at the same time. 5. The term of powers of the Senate’s deputies shall be six years, and the term of the deputies of the Mazhilis shall be five years. Footnote.
