Oath to be taken by members of Parliament

71. Oath to be taken by members of Parliament (1) Every member of either House of Parliament shall, before taking his seat in that House, take and subscribe the oath of allegiance before the House, but a member may before taking and subscribing that oath take part in the election of the President or of the Speaker. (2) Any person elected as President or Vice-President or elected as Speaker or Deputy Speaker shall, if he has not already taken and subscribed the oath of allegiance under subsection (1), take and subscribe that oath before the appropriate House before entering upon the duties of his office.
