55. Composition of Senate The Senate shall consist of the twenty-two Principal Chiefs and eleven other Senators nominated in that behalf by the King acting in accordance with the advice of the Council of State: Provided that - (a) a Principal Chief may, by notice in writing to the President of the Senate, designate any other person to be a Senator in his place either generally or for any sitting or sittings of the Senate specified in the notice and may, by notice in like manner, vary or revoke any such designation; and (b) the Council of State shall not meet for the purpose of tendering advice to the King for the nomination of Senators following a general election of members of the N i lA bl il f h fi i i f h N i lA bl f ll i h Page 34 National Assembly until after the first sitting of the National Assembly following that general election.
