Official source1 If— a only 1 constituency candidate is nominated in a district; or b any constituency candidate who has been nominated duly withdraws his or her nomination and there remains only 1 constituency candidate,— the Electoral Commission must, in accordance with section 179(2) , declare the constituency candidate to be duly elected. 2 The name of the person so elected must be endorsed on the writ by an Electoral Commissioner on behalf of the Electoral Commission , and the writ must be returned to the Clerk of the House of Representatives in accordance with section 185 . Section 148 : substituted , on 28 February 2002 , by section 59 of the Electoral Amendment Act 2002 (2002 No 1). Section 148(1) : amended , on 1 October 2010 , by section 32(1)(a) of the Electoral (Administration) Amendment Act 2010 (2010 No 26). Section 148(2) : amended , on 1 October 2010 , by section 32(2)(a) of the Electoral (Administration) Amendment Act 2010 (2010 No 26).
