Periods for claiming and paying candidate's election expenses

1 A claim for any election expenses against a candidate is recoverable only if it is sent to the candidate within 20 working days after the day on which the declaration required by section 179(2) is made. 2 A claim that is sent to a candidate in accordance with subsection (1) must be paid within 40 working days after the day on which that declaration is made, and not otherwise. 3 A person who makes a payment in breach of this section is guilty of an illegal practice. 4 This section is subject to sections 205H and 205I . 1993 No 87 s 206 (pre-20 December 2007); 2007 No 111 s 82 Section 205G(1) : amended , on 1 January 2011 , by section 10 of the Electoral (Finance Reform and Advance Voting) Amendment Act 2010 (2010 No 137).
