Publication of candidate advertisement promoting candidate

1 A person may publish or cause or permit to be published a candidate advertisement that may reasonably be regarded as encouraging or persuading voters to vote for a constituency candidate only if the publication of the advertisement is authorised in writing by the candidate. 2 A person may publish or cause or permit to be published an election advertisement comprising 2 or more candidate advertisements of the kind described in subsection (1) only if the publication of the advertisement is authorised in writing by each of the candidates. 3 A person who wilfully contravenes subsection (1) or (2) is guilty of an illegal practice. 1993 No 87 s 221(1)(a), (2)(a), (4), (5) (pre-1 January 2011) Section 204G : inserted , on 1 January 2011 , by section 7 of the Electoral (Finance Reform and Advance Voting) Amendment Act 2010 (2010 No 137).
