Objective

The objective of the Electoral Commission is to administer the electoral system impartially, efficiently, effectively, and in a way that— a facilitates participation in parliamentary democracy; and b promotes understanding of the electoral system and associated matters; and c maintains confidence in the administration of the electoral system. Section 4C : inserted , on 22 May 2010 , by section 4 of the Electoral (Administration) Amendment Act 2010 (2010 No 26). Section 4C : amended , on 1 October 2010 , by section 32(2)(a) of the Electoral (Administration) Amendment Act 2010 (2010 No 26).
