Evidence in proceedings before Tribunal

1 The Tribunal may act on any testimony, sworn or unsworn, and may receive as evidence any statement, document, information, or matter which in the opinion of the Tribunal may assist it to deal effectually with the matters before it, whether the same would, apart from this section, be legally admissible evidence or not. 2 Witnesses appearing before the Tribunal may give their evidence in the Maori language. 3 Subject to subclause (1), the Evidence Act 2006 shall apply to the Tribunal in the same manner as if the Tribunal were a court within the meaning of that Act.
