Article (81) (1) The term of the Shura Council shall be of four (4) calendar years commencing from the date of the first meeting thereof; and the New Council members shall be appointed within the sixty (60) days preceding the end of this term. If the appointment is not made by the end of the Council’s term, or if delayed for any reason, the existing Council remains in place until the new members are appointed, and the legislative term shall only be extended when (1) Amended upon The Draft Constitutional Amendments of 2024 on the Permanent Constitution of The State of Qatar, Ratified on 6-11-2024, The Official Gazette, Issue No. (16) of 2024, on November 3, 2024. -39- necessary and by a decree, provided that such extension does not exceed one (1) legislative term.
