Article 106 (Deputisation of the President of the Republic) In the event of permanent absence, death, resignation or other cessation of performing the office of President, the President of the National Assembly shall temporarily perform the duties of the office of President of the Republic until the election of a new President of the Republic. In such event, elections for a new President of the Republic must be called no later than fifteen days after the cessation of office of the previous President of the Republic. The President of the National Assembly also temporarily performs the duties of the office of President of the Republic during any absence of the President of the Republic.
