Transitional Government.

(1) Notwithstanding anything in this Constitution, the Government of the National Resistance Movement existing immediately before the coming into force of this Constitution, in this Chapter referred to as “the NRM Government” shall— (a) continue in office until a new government is elected in accordance with this Constitution; (b) as far as possible, exercise its functions in such a manner and with such modifications as are necessary to bring them into conformity with the provisions of this Constitution. (2) The elections provided for in clause (1) of this article shall be held within nine months after the promulgation of this Constitution.
