Traffic Safety Amendment Act, 2022

TRAFFIC SAFETY AMENDMENT ACT, 2022 Chapter 6 HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: Amends RSA 2000 cT-6 1 The Traffic Safety Act is amended by this Act. 2 Section 1(1) is amended by adding the following after clause (n): (n.1) “flashing lamp” includes a stationary or rotating flashing lamp, a strobe lamp or a 360 degree warning lamp but does not include a turn signal lamp or a vehicle hazard warning lamp required under the regulations; 3 Section 115 is amended (a) by renumbering subsection (1) as subsection (1.1) and adding the following before subsection (1.1): Prohibited operation of vehicles, etc. 115 (1) For the purposes of this section, “school bus” means a vehicle on which are displayed the words “school bus”. (b) in subsection (2)(t) (i) by repealing subclause (iv) and substituting the following: (iv) is travelling on the same side of the highway as a stopped vehicle with flashing lamps or travelling in the opposite direction as a stopped vehicle with flashing lamps on a highway consisting of only 2 traffic lanes that carry traffic in opposite directions, and (ii) in subclause (v) by striking out “emergency vehicle or tow truck” and substituting “vehicle”; (c) by repealing subsection (4) and substituting the following: (4) Subsection (2)(t) does not apply (a) where a speed limit is prescribed under section 108(1)(g), or (b) when the stopped vehicle is a school bus. 4 This Act comes into force on Proclamation.
