(2) If a code that is declared in force in this Regulation defines a word that is used in this Regulation in a reference to that code, the word has, for the purposes of the reference, the meaning given to it in the code. (3) The following references in a code that is declared in force in this Regulation, shall be read as referring to the “code declared in force with respect to buildings by section 1 of the Building Code Regulation (AR 5/2024)”: (a) “National Building Code of Canada”; (b) “National Building Code of Canada or local code”; (c) “local building code”; (d) “applicable building code of the authority having jurisdiction”. AR 111/2010 s1;193/2015;65/2022;73/2024;44/2025 Paramountcy 2 If there is a conflict between a code declared in force in this Regulation and another regulation under an Act of Alberta, the other regulation prevails over this Regulation. Gas systems equipment 3 (1) No person shall manufacture, install, sell or offer for sale any equipment related to gas systems for use in Alberta unless the equipment has been (a) tested and certified by a certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada, or (b) inspected and accepted by a certification body or an inspection body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada, and the equipment bears evidence of having been accepted in the manner authorized by the certification body or inspection body. (2) If a code, standard or body of rules respecting gas systems that is declared in force under the Act refers to approved equipment, that equipment must meet the requirements of this section. AR 44/2025 s3 Repeal 10 The Gas Code Regulation (AR 113/2005) is repealed. 11 Repealed AR 227/2012 s4. Coming into force 12 This Regulation comes into force on September 1, 2010.
