Restricted Activity Authorization Regulation

(Consolidated up to 199/2025) ALBERTA REGULATION 5/2004 Government Organization Act RESTRICTED ACTIVITY AUTHORIZATION REGULATION Definitions 1 In this Regulation, (a) repealed AR 77/2009 s2; (a.1) “provincial health agency” means the provincial health agency established for the mental health and addiction health services sector under the Provincial Health Agencies Act ; (a.2) “provincial health corporation” means a provincial health corporation under the Provincial Health Agencies Act ; (b) “psychosocial intervention” means the restricted activity of performing a psychosocial intervention with an expectation of treating a substantial disorder of thought, mood, perception, orientation or memory that grossly impairs (i) judgment, (ii) behaviour, (iii) capacity to recognize reality, or (iv) ability to meet the ordinary demands of life; (b.1) “regional health authority” means a regional health authority under the Provincial Health Agencies Act ; (c) “service provider” means a person, other than a regulated member, whose name appears on a list of service providers maintained by a provincial health agency, regional health authority or provincial health corporation for the purposes of this Regulation and who (i) is an employee or agent of a provincial health agency, regional health authority or provincial health corporation and provides or supervises addictions counselling, (ii) is not an employee or agent of a provincial health agency, regional health authority or provincial health corporation but provides addictions counselling pursuant to a contract with a provincial health agency, regional health authority or provincial health corporation, or (iii) is not an employee or agent of a provincial health agency, regional health authority or provincial health corporation but provides addictions counselling when conducting a program for the prevention or treatment of alcohol and drug abuse and receives financial assistance from a provincial health agency, regional health authority or provincial health corporation for the program. AR 5/2004 s2;77/2009 Expiry 3 For the purpose of ensuring that this Regulation is reviewed for ongoing relevancy and necessity, with the option that it may be repassed in its present or an amended form following a review, this Regulation expires on November 30, 2031.
