Statute overview

About this statute

This regulation sets several Alberta employment standards rules, including minimum wage, overtime and short-hours pay, and some exemptions from those rules. This provision sets rest, pay, overtime, youth-employment, permit, penalty, fee, and publication rules for several worker groups, including caregivers, firefighters, construction employees, and certain young workers. Employers may only give an employee’s written statement in electronic form if access and printing conditions are met. The Director must publish specified enforcement-action details, and certain published information must be removed once the judgment is satisfied. Critical-illness leave rules also require employee notices, medical certificates, and return-to-work notice, while employers must reinstate returning employees and cannot terminate or lay them off after leave starts, subject to stated exceptions.
