About this statute

This Act requires pension plans to have compliant plan records, be registered, and be administered only when registration requirements are met. The provision sets rules for pension plan administration, member eligibility, funding, disclosures, and the Superintendent’s powers over registrations and amendments. The provision locks in certain pension benefits, limits withdrawals and assignments, and sets exceptions, transfer rules, survivor benefits, and missing-person procedures. This provision lets a plan be terminated, sets notice and filing duties, and gives the Superintendent strong powers to direct termination, inspect compliance, and impose penalties. This provision sets how documents are served, when service by registered mail is deemed effective, and gives the Superintendent and the Lieutenant Governor in Council powers and duties about multi-jurisdictional plans, regulations, and fees.
