This part defines key terms and sets rules for the railway company, including how it may operate, how its shares and funds are handled, and limits on transferring railway property. The company may subdivide and dispose of certain railway property, and it may do several listed transactions without seeking specified ministerial or other approvals, subject to section 52(1). The Lieutenant Governor in Council may also designate railway property as surplus property if it does not relate to revitalization rail services.
