H60 Regulation 88/2011 Registered June 28, 2011 bilingual version (HTML) Definition of "Act" 1 In this regulation, "Act" means The Highway Traffic Act . 2 [Repealed] M.R. 24/2019 Prescribed activities — roadside assistance vehicles 3 For the purpose of subsections 109.1(2) and (2.1) of the Act, the requirements of those subsections apply in respect of a roadside assistance vehicle that is engaged in any of the following prescribed activities: (a) manœuvring into position to provide roadside assistance to a vehicle that is on or beside the roadway, such as (i) changing, repairing or inflating a flat or damaged tire, (ii) performing battery service, (iii) performing a vehicle repair or minor service, (iv) providing fuel, (v) towing or vehicle removal service in respect of a disabled, damaged or inoperable vehicle, or (vi) winching a vehicle that is stuck in snow or mud or is otherwise off the roadway; (b) approaching — whether from the front or rear and whether on the roadway or beside it — a stationary vehicle that is within sight of the roadside assistance vehicle, in order to provide roadside assistance to the stationary vehicle. Use of temporary traffic control devices 3.1(1) The operator of a roadside assistance vehicle may, in accordance with subsection (2), place the following temporary traffic control devices on the highway when engaged in roadside assistance activities prescribed in section 3: (a) one or more 700 mm tall traffic cones that conform to the requirements for traffic control device TC-61 in the manual of traffic control devices approved under the Traffic Control Devices Regulation , Manitoba Regulation 13/2019; (b) one or more emergency scene warning signs that conform to the requirements for traffic control devices MW-155, MW-155F or MW-155B approved under the Traffic Control Devices Regulation . 3.1(2) The operator of the roadside assistance vehicle may place the temporary traffic control devices on the highway for the purpose of (a) warning traffic on the highway about roadside assistance activities taking place on or near the highway; and (b) safely guiding traffic to avoid the part of the highway where the roadside assistance activities are taking place. M.R. 125/2025 Coming into force 4 This regulation comes into force on the same day that The Highway Traffic Amendment Act (Safety Precautions to be Taken When Approaching Tow Trucks and Other Designated Vehicles) , S.M. 2010, c. 7, comes into force.
