Trapping Areas and Zones Regulation, M.R. 149/2001 The Wildlife Act , C.C.S.M. c. W130 Regulation 149/2001 Registered September 25, 2001 bilingual version (HTML) Definition 1(1) In this regulation, "open trapping area" means the area of the province shown on Plan No. 19319D filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg that is not outlined by heavy broken line; (« zone de piégeage ouverte ») "registered trapline district" means a number of registered trapline sections that have been grouped together for administrative or management purposes as set out in section 2; (« district de sentiers de piégeage enregistrés ») "registered trapline section" means a geographic subdivision of the registered trapline area as shown on Plan No. 19319D filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg and each registered trapline section has the name given to it as shown on that plan; (« section de sentiers de piégeage enregistrés ») "registered trapline area" means the area of the province shown on Plan No. 19319D filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg that is outlined by heavy broken line; (« zone de sentiers de piégeage enregistrés ») "special trapping areas" means the areas of the province as set out in section 3; (« zone spéciale de piégeage ») and "special trapping district" means a number of registered trapline sections or special trapping areas or a combination thereof that have been grouped together for administrative or management purposes as set out in section 4. (« district spécial de piégeage ») Boundary at centreline 1(2) Where in the description of a boundary of any special trapping area, registered trapline area or open trapping area zone, reference is made to a highway, road, trail or watercourse, the dividing line shall be at the centreline thereof unless otherwise stated. M.R. 136/2004 Barrenlands Registered Trapline District 2(1) The Barrenlands Registered Trapline District consists of the following registered trapline sections: Chipewyan and Churchill. Northern Registered Trapline District 2(2) The Northern Registered Trapline District consists of the following registered trapline sections: Brochet, Cormorant, Cranberry Portage, Cross Lake, Easterville, Flin Flon, Gods Lake, Grand Rapids, Herb Lake, Island Lake, Limestone, Moose Lake, Nelson House, Norway House, Oxford Lake, Pikwitonei, Pukatawagan, Shamattawa, Sherridon, Southern Indian Lake, Split Lake, Thicket Portage and Wabowden. Western Registered Trapline District 2(3) The Western Registered Trapline District consists of the following registered trapline sections: Camperduck, Camperduck A, Camperduck B, Duck Mountain, Porcupine and Red Deer-Shoal River. Interlake Registered Trapline District 2(4) The Interlake Registered Trapline District consists of the following registered trapline sections: Bullhead, Camperduck C, Cedar Camp, Crane River, Gypsumville, Skownan and Waterhen. Eastern Registered Trapline District 2(5) The Eastern Registered Trapline District consists of the following registered trapline sections: Berens River, Bloodvein, Hole River, Lac du Bonnet, Little Grand Rapids, Paungassi, Poplar River and Whiteshell. Southern Registered Trapline District 2(6) The Southern Registered Trapline District consists of the Turtle Mountain registered trapline section. Delta Marsh Special Trapping Area 3(1) The Delta Marsh Special Trapping Area consists of all Crown lands, including Crown lands under water, and all road allowances adjacent to those Crown lands located in the lands designated as the Delta, Flee Island, St. Ambroise, St. Marks and St. Laurent Units, each unit respectively shown bordered with heavy broken lines on Plan No. 7840 filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg. 3(2) [Repealed] M.R. 47/2021 Whitewater Special Trapping Area 3(3) The Whitewater Special Trapping Area consists of all Crown lands including Crown lands under water, and all road allowances adjacent to those Crown lands located in the following areas: (a) in Township 3, Range 22 WPM and being Sections 13 to 16 inclusive, Sections 21 to 28 inclusive and Sections 33 to 36 inclusive; (b) in Township 4, Range 22 WPM and being Sections 1 and 2; (c) in Township 3, Range 21 WPM and being the north half and southwest quarter of Section 18, Sections 19 to 21 inclusive and Sections 27 to 34 inclusive; (d) in Township 4, Range 21 WPM and being Sections 3 to 6 inclusive and the south halves of Sections 8 and 9. Saskeram Special Trapping Area 3(4) The Saskeram Special Trapping Area consists of all Crown lands including Crown lands under water, and all road allowances adjacent to those Crown lands located in the area of the province shown on Plan No. 19319D filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg which is cross hatched and identified as the Saskeram Special Trapping Area. Clearwater Special Trapping Area 3(5) The Clearwater Special Trapping Area consists of all Crown lands including Crown lands under water, and all road allowances adjacent to those Crown lands located in the area of the province shown on Plan No. 19319D filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg which is cross hatched and identified as the Clearwater Special Trapping Area. Summerberry Special Trapping Area 3(6) The Summerberry Special Trapping Area consists of all Crown lands including Crown lands under water, and all road allowances adjacent to those Crown lands located in the area of the province shown on Plan No. 19319D filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg which is cross hatched and identified as the Summerberry Special Trapping Area. M.R. 136/2004 ; 47/2021 Northern Special Trapping District 4(1) The Northern Special Trapping District consists of the Saskeram, Clearwater and Summerberry Special Trapping Areas and the Easterville Registered Trapline Section. Southern Special Trapping District 4(2) The Southern Special Trapping District consists of the following special trapping areas: Delta, Oak Lake and Whitewater Lake. Open trapping area zones 5(1) The open trapping area is divided into the following zones and each zone has the name given it in the heading preceding the description. Open Trapping Area Zone 1 5(2) Open Trapping Area Zone 1 consists of that portion of the province bounded on the north by Provincial Trunk Highways No. 16, 1, 101 and 15; on the east by Provincial Road No. 302 from where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 15 to where it intersects with Provincial Road No. 201, thence south along the east limit of Range 7 East to the Canada-United States border; on the south by the Canada-United States border from where it intersects with the east limit of Range 7 East to the Manitoba-Saskatchewan boundary; and on the west by the Manitoba-Saskatchewan boundary from where it intersects with the Canada-United States border to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 16. Open Trapping Area Zone 2 5(3) Open Trapping Area Zone 2 consists of that portion of the province bounded on the north by the southerly and easterly boundary of the Porcupine Registered Trapline Section and the southerly boundaries of the Red Deer-Shoal River, Camperduck, Camperduck A, Skownan, Waterhen and Crane River Registered Trapline Sections to where the southerly boundary of the Crane River Registered Trapline Section intersects with the west shore of Lake Manitoba; on the east by the west shore of Lake Manitoba and Provincial Road No. 242 to where Provincial Road No. 242 intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 16; on the south by Provincial Trunk Highway No. 16 to where it intersects with the Manitoba-Saskatchewan boundary; on the west by the Manitoba-Saskatchewan boundary from where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 16 to where it intersects with the south boundary of the Porcupine Registered Trapline Section; excluding the lands described as Open Area Zone 2A. Open Trapping Area Zone 2A 5(4) Open Trapping Area Zone 2A consists of that portion of the province bounded on the west by Provincial Trunk Highway No. 83; on the north and east by Provincial Trunk Highway No. 5; on the south by Provincial Road No. 357 from where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 5 to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 10, thence northerly along Provincial Trunk Highway No. 10 to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 45, thence westerly and northerly along Provincial Trunk Highway No. 45 to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 83. Open Trapping Area Zone 3 5(5) Open Trapping Area Zone 3 consists of that portion of the province bounded on the north by the southerly and easterly boundaries of the Crane River and Waterhen Registered Trapline Sections and the southerly boundary of the Gypsumville Registered Trapline Section, thence northerly along the west shore of Lake Winnipeg to the south limit of Township 38 in Range 5 West, thence east along the south limit of Township 38 to Pigeon Point; on the east by the westerly boundaries of the Berens River, Bloodvein, Bullhead, Hole River and Lac du Bonnet Registered Trapline Sections to the north limit of Township 21, Range 8 East, thence west along the north limit of Township 21, Range 8 East to the west limit of Section 33, Township 21, Range 7 East, thence south along the west limits of Sections 33, 28, 21, 16, 9 and 4 in Township 20, Range 7 East and Section 33 in Township 20, Range 7 East to the point of intersection with the shore of Lake Winnipeg, thence southerly along the east shore of Lake Winnipeg to the village of Beaconia, thence east on the Beaconia access road to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 59, thence south on Provincial Trunk Highway No. 59 to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 12, thence south on Provincial Trunk Highway No. 12 and Provincial Road No. 302 to where Provincial Road No. 302 intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 15; on the south by Provincial Trunk Highways No. 15, 101 and 1 to where Provincial Trunk Highway No. 1 intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 16; and on the west by Provincial Trunk Highway No. 16 to where it intersects with Provincial Road No. 242, thence northerly along Provincial Road No. 242 and the west shore of Lake Manitoba to the point where the west shore of Lake Manitoba intersects with the south boundary of the Crane River Registered Trapline Section. Open Trapping Area Zone 4 5(6) Open Trapping Area Zone 4 consists of that portion of the province bounded on the east by the Manitoba-Ontario boundary from where it intersects with the Canada-United States border to the south boundary of the Whiteshell Registered Trapline Section, the westerly boundaries of the Whiteshell and Lac du Bonnet Registered Trapline Sections to where the boundary of the Lac du Bonnet Registered Trapline Section intersects with the north limit of Township 21, Range 8 East; on the north by the north limit of Township 21 in Ranges 7 and 8 East from its point of intersection with the westerly boundary of the Lac du Bonnet Registered Trapline Section to the west limit of Section 33, Township 21, Range 7 East; on the west, by the west limits of Sections 33, 28, 21, 16, 9 and 4 in Township 20, Range 7 East and Section 33 in Township 20, Range 7 East to the point of intersection with the shore of Lake Winnipeg, thence southerly along the east shore of Lake Winnipeg to the village of Beaconia, thence east on the Beaconia access road to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 59, thence south on Provincial Trunk Highway No. 59 to where it intersects with Provincial Trunk Highway No. 12, thence south on Provincial Trunk Highway No. 12 and Provincial Road No. 302 to where Provincial Road No. 302 intersects with Provincial Road No. 201, thence south along the east limit of Range 7 East to the Canada-United States border; on the south by the Canada-United States border from where it intersects with the east limit of Range 7 East to the Manitoba-Ontario boundary. Open Trapping Area Zone 5 5(7) Open Trapping Area Zone 5 consists of that portion of the province lying north of the 53rd parallel that is not outlined by heavy broken line on Plan No. 19319D filed in the Office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg. M.R. 136/2004 ; 47/2021 Repeal 6 The Designation of Trapping Areas Regulation , Manitoba Regulation 190/86, is repealed.
