(« zone de gestion de la faune ») M.R. 169/92; 187/94; 112/95; 141/99; 125/2000 ; 131/2001 ; 144/2002 ; 54/2007 ; 137/2008 ; 183/2010 ; 111/2012 ; 19/2021 ; 92/2022 References to dates and areas 2 All dates and all references to areas by means of numbers in this regulation are inclusive. Hunting licence limitations 3 Except where this regulation provides otherwise, the holder of a hunting licence may only hunt (a) the species of wild animal named in the licence; (b) using the type of equipment stated in the licence; and (c) in an area designated in this regulation for such a species, licence and equipment type. M.R. 187/94; 112/95; 141/99; 137/2008 Hunting equipment for white-tailed deer and game bird licence (youth) 3.1 When this regulation authorizes the holder of a white-tailed deer and game bird licence (youth) to hunt a particular wild animal, the holder shall use (a) the equipment specified or permitted for whatever other type of licence is listed in the same entry in the Schedules to this regulation that authorizes the holder to hunt the wild animal in question; or (b) the equipment specified in the applicable entry in the Schedules to this regulation. M.R. 45/2010 ; 92/2022 Hunting equipment for general licences 3.2(1) Subject to subsection (2), when the word "general" is used in the name of a particular hunting licence, it means that a rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, crossbow or a long, recurved or compound bow may be used to hunt in the areas and during the open seasons for which the licence in question is valid. 3.2(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to any type of general deer hunting licence or general bear hunting licence. M.R. 111/2012 Archery equipment 3.3 When the word "archery" is used in the name of a particular hunting licence or in a column of a Schedule, it means that a long, recurved or compound bow may be used to hunt in the areas and during the open seasons for which the licence in question is valid. M.R. 111/2012 All equipment 3.4 When the term "all equipment" is used in a column of a Schedule, it means a rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, crossbow or a long, recurved or compound bow may be used to hunt in the areas and during the open seasons for which the licence in question is valid. M.R. 111/2012 Bag and possession limits 4 No person shall take or kill more than the bag limit or possess more than the possession limit specified in this regulation for a species or type of wild animal. M.R. 141/99 PART 2 GAME BIRDS AND WILD TURKEYS Hunting seasons and bag limits for game birds 5(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident or Canadian resident game bird licence or a Manitoba resident deer and game bird licence (youth) may hunt the game birds named in Column 1 of Schedule A in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in Column 2 during the open seasons specified in Column 3, subject to the bag and possession limits set out in Column 4. 5(2) The holder of a non-Canadian resident upland game bird licence may hunt the upland game birds named in Column 1 of Schedule A in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in Column 2 during the open seasons specified in Column 3, subject to the bag and possession limits set out in Column 4. 5(3) Subject to subsection (4), the holder of a general non-Canadian resident migratory game bird licence may hunt the migratory game birds named in Column 1 of Schedule A in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in Column 2 during the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 3 that fall within the authorized seven-day hunting period set out in their licence, subject to the bag and possession limits set out in Column 4. 5(4) The minister may issue one or more classes of general non-Canadian resident migratory game bird licences that authorize the holder to hunt migratory game birds only in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in their licence. The holder of such a licence may hunt the migratory game birds named in Column 1 of Schedule A in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in their licence during the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 3 that fall within the authorized seven-day hunting period set out in their licence, subject to the bag and possession limits set out in Column 4. 5(5) The holder of a legacy non-Canadian resident migratory game bird licence may hunt the migratory game birds named in Column 1 of Schedule A in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in Column 2 during the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 3 that fall within the authorized 21-day hunting period set out in their licence, subject to the bag and possession limits set out in Column 4. M.R. 187/94; 112/95; 141/99; 111/2005 ; 111/2012 ; 92/2022 ; 130/2022 ; 16/2024 Waterfowler Heritage Days 5.1 A person authorized to hunt game birds without a licence during Waterfowler Heritage Days under section 27.3 of the General Hunting Regulation , Manitoba Regulation 351/87, may hunt the game birds named in Column 1 of Schedule A in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in Column 2 during the open season specified in Column 3 subject to the bag and possession limit set out in Column 4. M.R. 45/2010 ; 111/2012 Spring conservation goose licence 5.2 The holder of a spring conservation goose licence may hunt the species of geese specified in Column 1 of Schedule A, in the areas or game bird hunting zones specified in Column 2 during the open seasons specified in Column 3, subject to the bag and possession limits set out in Column 4. M.R. 155/2014 ; 8/2021 Hunting season and bag limit for wild turkeys 6 The holder of a Manitoba resident wild turkey licence or a wild turkey licence (youth) may hunt wild turkeys in the areas specified in Column 2 of Schedule A during the open season specified in Column 3 subject to the bag and possession limit set out in Column 4. M.R. 141/99; 45/2010 ; 16/2024 Possession limits 7 No person shall have in his or her possession more than the possession limit specified in Schedule A for any game bird or wild turkey. M.R. 169/92; 112/95 PART 3 WHITE-TAILED DEER Manitoba resident general white-tailed deer licence and Manitoba resident white-tailed deer and game bird licence (youth) 8 The holder of a Manitoba resident general white-tailed deer licence or a Manitoba resident white-tailed deer and game bird licence (youth) may hunt white-tailed deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3, subject to any restrictions set out in Schedule B. M.R. 169/92; 112/95; 196/96; 141/99; 111/2005 ; 55/2009 ; 93/2011 ; 111/2012 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Manitoba resident second white-tailed deer licence 9(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident second white-tailed deer licence may hunt white-tailed deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. 9(2) No person may obtain or hold a Manitoba resident second white-tailed deer licence in a year unless the person holds a Manitoba resident general white-tailed deer licence for that hunting year. 9(3) The holder of a Manitoba resident second white-tailed deer licence shall not hunt white-tailed deer under authority of that licence unless the holder is also in possession of a Manitoba resident general white-tailed deer licence that is valid during the period and for the area in which the second white-tailed deer licence is being used. M.R. 173/93; 112/95; 141/99; 111/2005 ; 55/2009 ; 111/2012 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Manitoba resident third white-tailed deer licence 10(1) The holder of a resident third white-tailed deer licence may hunt white-tailed deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. 10(2) No person may obtain or hold a Manitoba resident third white-tailed deer licence in a year unless the person holds a Manitoba resident general white-tailed deer licence and a Manitoba resident second white-tailed deer licence for that hunting year. 10(3) The holder of a Manitoba resident third white-tailed deer licence shall not hunt white-tailed deer under authority of that licence unless the holder is also in possession of a Manitoba resident general white-tailed deer licence and a Manitoba resident second white-tailed deer licence that are valid during the period and for the area in which the third white-tailed deer licence is being used. M.R. 169/92; 112/95; 141/99; 125/2000 ; 131/2001 ; 111/2005 ; 55/2009 ; 111/2012 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Canadian resident general white-tailed deer licence 10.1 The holder of a Canadian resident general white-tailed deer licence may hunt white-tailed deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. M.R. 196/96; 141/99; 125/2000 ; 85/2006 ; 111/2012 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Non-Canadian resident licences 10.2(1) The holder of a non-Canadian resident general white-tailed deer licence may hunt white-tailed deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. 10.2(2) The holder of a non-Canadian resident archery white-tailed deer licence may hunt white-tailed deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. 10.2(3) The holder of a non-Canadian resident muzzleloader white-tailed deer licence may hunt white-tailed deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. 10.2(4) A non-Canadian resident who has killed a white-tailed deer under the authority of any type of non-Canadian resident white-tailed deer licence shall not obtain another type of non-Canadian resident white-tailed deer licence in the same hunting year. M.R. 196/96; 141/99; 125/2000 ; 45/2010 ; 111/2012 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Additional requirements 10.3 In addition to the requirements set out in this Part, a person must not hunt white-tailed deer (a) in areas 5, 6, 6A, 7, 8, 10, 11, 15 and 15A during a moose season, unless the person holds a valid Manitoba resident draw general moose licence for that area with an unused tag; and (b) in areas 13 and 18 during an elk season, unless the person holds a valid Manitoba resident draw archery elk licence for that area with an unused tag. M.R. 92/2022 ; 16/2024 White-tailed deer bag limits 11(1) The bag limit is one white-tailed deer for the following types of white-tailed deer hunting licences: (a) any type of general white-tailed deer licence; (b) Manitoba resident white-tailed deer and game bird licence (youth); (c) non-Canadian resident archery white-tailed deer licence; (d) non-Canadian resident muzzleloader white-tailed deer licence. 11(2) The bag limit for a Manitoba resident second white-tailed deer licence and a Manitoba resident third white-tailed deer licence is one antlerless white-tailed deer. 11(3) No person who is the holder of a white-tailed deer licence for which the bag limit is one antlerless white-tailed deer shall take or possess a male white-tailed deer under authority of that licence. M.R. 169/92; 173/93; 112/95; 196/96; 141/99; 137/2003 ; 85/2006 ; 183/2010 ; 111/2012 ; 133/2012 ; 4/2013 ; 101/2013 ; 155/2014 ; 42/2018 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 PART 3.1 MULE DEER Manitoba resident general mule deer licence 11.1 The holder of a Manitoba resident general mule deer licence may hunt mule deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B.1, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3, subject to any restrictions set out in Schedule B.1. M.R. 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Manitoba resident second mule deer licence 11.2(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident second mule deer licence may hunt mule deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B.1, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. 11.2(2) No person may obtain or hold a Manitoba resident second mule deer licence in a year unless the person holds a Manitoba resident general mule deer licence for that hunting year. 11.2(3) The holder of a Manitoba resident second mule deer licence shall not hunt mule deer under authority of that licence unless the holder is also in possession of a Manitoba resident general mule deer licence that is valid during the period and for the area in which the second mule deer licence is being used. M.R. 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Manitoba resident third mule deer licence 11.3(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident third mule deer licence may hunt mule deer in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule B.1, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. 11.3(2) No person may obtain or hold a Manitoba resident third mule deer licence in a year unless the person holds a Manitoba resident general mule deer licence and a Manitoba resident second mule deer licence for that hunting year. 11.3(3) The holder of a Manitoba resident third mule deer licence shall not hunt mule deer under authority of that licence unless the holder is also in possession of a Manitoba resident general mule deer licence and a Manitoba resident second mule deer licence that are valid during the period and for the area in which the third mule deer licence is being used. M.R. 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Additional requirements 11.4 In addition to the requirements set out in this Part, a person must not hunt mule deer (a) in areas 5, 6, 6A and 11 during a moose season, unless the person holds a valid Manitoba resident draw general moose licence for that area with an unused tag; and (b) in areas 13 and 18 during an elk season, unless the person holds a valid Manitoba resident draw archery elk licence for that area with an unused tag. M.R. 92/2022 ; 16/2024 Mule deer bag limits 11.5(1) The bag limit for a general mule deer licence is one mule deer. 11.5(2) The bag limit for a Manitoba resident second mule deer licence and a Manitoba resident third mule deer licence is one antlerless mule deer. 11.5(3) No person who is the holder of a mule deer licence for which the bag limit is one antlerless mule deer shall take or possess a male mule deer under authority of that licence. M.R. 92/2022 ; 16/2024 PART 4 ELK Manitoba resident draw archery elk seasons and bag limits 12(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident draw archery elk licence may hunt elk in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule C during the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 12(2) No person who is the holder of a Manitoba resident draw archery elk licence shall hunt or kill elk except by means of a long, recurved or compound bow. M.R. 141/99; 16/2024 Manitoba resident draw general elk seasons and bag limits 13 The holder of a Manitoba resident draw general elk licence may hunt elk in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule C during the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. M.R. 141/99; 16/2024 Landowner elk seasons and bag limits 14 The holder of a Manitoba resident landowner draw general elk licence may hunt elk in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule C during the open season specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. M.R. 141/99; 16/2024 One type of elk licence only 15(1) Subject to subsection (2), no person shall apply for or hold in a licence year more than one type of elk licence referred to in this Part. 15(2) A Manitoba resident landowner may apply for a Manitoba resident landowner draw general elk licence in addition to a Manitoba resident draw archery elk or Manitoba resident draw general elk licence. M.R. 141/99; 125/2000 ; 16/2024 Additional hunting rights in areas 23 and 23A 16(1) The holder of a licence referred to in section 12, 13 or 14 that authorizes a person to hunt elk in area 23 or 23A, or both of those areas, during an open season specified in Column 2 of Schedule C may also hunt male moose in those areas during that open season. 16(2) The holder of a licence referred to in subsection (1) may kill either one elk or one male moose under the authority of that licence during the open season for the licence in question. M.R. 169/92; 93/2011 ; 32/2026 PART 5 MOOSE Archery moose seasons and bag limits 17(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident archery moose licence may hunt moose in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule D during the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 17(2) The holder of a Manitoba resident archery moose licence may hunt or kill a moose under this section only by means of a long, recurved or compound bow. M.R. 169/92; 187/94; 196/96; 16/2024 Draw general moose seasons and bag limits 18 The holder of a Manitoba resident draw general moose licence may hunt moose in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule D during the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. M.R. 141/99; 16/2024 General moose seasons and bag limits 19(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident general moose licence or a Manitoba resident conservation moose licence may hunt moose in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule D during the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 19(2) The holder of a Canadian resident general moose licence may hunt moose in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule D during the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 19(3) The holder of a non-Canadian resident general moose licence may hunt moose in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule D during the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. M.R. 187/94; 112/95; 196/96; 111/2005 ; 85/2006 ; 54/2007 ; 55/2009 ; 93/2011 ; 16/2024 Bag limit for moose 20(1) Subject to subsection (2), no person shall kill more than one male moose during a licence year. 20(2) A person who holds an elk hunting licence referred to in section 16 and a moose hunting licence referred to in section 17, 18 or 19 may (a) kill a male moose under authority of the elk hunting licence referred to in section 16; and (b) kill a male moose under authority of a licence referred to in section 17, 18 or 19. M.R. 141/99; 93/2011 ; 40/2024 ; 32/2026 PART 6 CARIBOU Caribou seasons and bag limits 21(1) The holder of a Manitoba resident, Canadian resident or non-Canadian resident general caribou licence, or a second general caribou licence, may hunt caribou in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule E in the open seasons specified in Column 2 subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 21(2) No person shall obtain or hold a second caribou licence in a year unless the person holds a caribou licence valid for use in GHA 1 for the year. M.R. 187/94; 112/95; 141/99; 111/2005 ; 85/2006 ; 55/2009 ; 16/2024 22 [Repealed] M.R. 169/92 23 [Repealed] M.R. 40/2024 PART 7 BLACK BEAR Black bear seasons 24 The holder of a Manitoba resident, Canadian resident or non-Canadian resident general black bear licence, or a Manitoba resident black bear licence (youth) may hunt black bears in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule F, using the equipment specified in Column 2, during the open seasons specified in Column 3. M.R. 187/94; 141/99; 111/2012 ; 88/2017 ; 16/2024 Bag limit for black bear 25 The bag limit for any type of black bear hunting licence is one adult black bear. M.R. 111/2012 Hunting of female bear with a cub prohibited 26(1) No person shall kill or attempt to kill a female bear while she is accompanied by a cub. 26(2) In this section, "cub" means a black bear weighing 20.5 kg or less. M.R. 155/2014 27 [Repealed] M.R. 169/92; 141/99 28 [Repealed] M.R. 169/92 PART 8 GRAY (TIMBER) WOLF Gray (timber) wolf seasons and bag limits 29(1) Subject to subsection (2), a Manitoba resident who is the holder of a valid mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, moose, caribou or black bear licence for the current hunting year may hunt gray (timber) wolves in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule G during an open season specified in Column 2, subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 29(2) Subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3 of Schedule G, the holder of a valid Manitoba resident mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, moose, caribou or black bear licence for the current hunting year may hunt gray (timber) wolves in the areas specified in Column 1 during the times and subject to the conditions set out below: (a) if the holder is in possession of an unused big game tag, he or she may hunt gray (timber) wolves in the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 2 that overlap with the open seasons for the species of wild animal that is the subject of his or her licence; and (b) the holder may hunt gray (timber) wolves during any period during the open seasons specified in Column 2 in which there is no big game hunting season in effect, regardless of whether the holder has an unused big game tag. 29(3) Subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3 of Schedule G, the holder of a valid Canadian resident mule deer, white-tailed deer, moose, or black bear licence for the current hunting year may hunt gray (timber) wolves in the areas specified in Column 1 during the times and subject to the conditions set out below: (a) if the holder is in possession of an unused big game tag, he or she may hunt gray (timber) wolves in the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 2 that overlap with the open seasons for the species of wild animal that is the subject of his or her licence; and (b) the holder may hunt gray (timber) wolves during any period during the open seasons specified in Column 2 in which there is no big game hunting season in effect, regardless of whether the holder has an unused big game tag. 29(4) Subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3 of Schedule G, the holder of a valid mule deer, white-tailed deer, moose, caribou or black bear licence for the current hunting year allocated under the Allocation of Hunting Licences Regulation , Manitoba Regulation 77/2006, may hunt gray (timber) wolves in the areas specified in Column 1 during the times and subject to the conditions set out below: (a) if the holder is in possession of an unused big game tag, he or she may hunt gray (timber) wolves in the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 2 that overlap with the open seasons for the species of wild animal that is the subject of his or her licence; and (b) the holder may hunt gray (timber) wolves during any period during the open seasons specified in Column 2 in which there is no big game hunting season in effect, regardless of whether the holder has an unused big game tag. M.R. 169/92; 187/94; 112/95; 111/2005 ; 137/2008 ; 55/2009 ; 89/2010 ; 75/2020 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 PART 8.1 COYOTE Coyote seasons and bag limits 29.0.1(1) Subject to subsection (2), a Manitoba resident who is the holder of a valid mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, moose, caribou or black bear licence for the current hunting year may hunt coyote in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule H during an open season specified in Column 2, subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 29.0.1(2) Subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3 of Schedule H, the holder of a valid Manitoba resident mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, moose, caribou or black bear licence for the current hunting year may hunt coyotes in the areas specified in Column 1 during the times and subject to the conditions set out below: (a) if the holder is in possession of an unused big game tag, he or she may hunt coyotes in the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 2 that overlap with the open seasons for the species of wild animal that is the subject of his or her licence; and (b) the holder may hunt coyotes during any period during the open seasons specified in Column 2 in which there is no big game hunting season in effect, regardless of whether the holder has an unused big game tag. 29.0.1(3) The holder of a valid Canadian resident mule deer, white-tailed deer, moose or black bear licence for the current hunting year who is in possession of an unused game tag may hunt coyote in the areas specified in Column 1 of Schedule H in the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 2 that overlap with the open seasons for the species of wild animal that is the subject of his or her licence, subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. 29.0.1(4) The holder of a valid mule deer, white-tailed deer, moose, caribou or black bear licence for the current hunting year allocated under the Allocation of Hunting Licences Regulation , Manitoba Regulation 77/2006, who is in possession of an unused game tag may hunt coyote in the game hunting area for which the licence is allocated in the portions of the open seasons specified in Column 2 of Schedule H that overlap with the open seasons for the species that is the subject of his or her licence, subject to the bag limits set out in Column 3. M.R. 137/2008 ; 55/2009 ; 89/2010 ; 92/2022 ; 16/2024 PART 9 MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS Disabled crossbow permit holders 29.1 Despite any other provision in this regulation, the holder of a disabled crossbow permit who holds a hunting licence that allows him or her to hunt using a long, recurved or compound bow may also use a crossbow when hunting under authority of that licence. M.R. 70/2008 Repeal 30 Manitoba Regulation 211/89, as amended, is repealed.
