This regulation identifies which health care facilities must make gunshot and stab wound disclosures, who may make them, and how they must be sent to the local police service.
Gunshot and Stab Wounds Mandatory Reporting Regulation, M.R. 177/2008 The Gunshot and Stab Wounds Mandatory Reporting Act , C.C.S.M. c. G125 Regulation 177/2008 Registered November 24, 2008 bilingual version (HTML) Definition 1 In this regulation, "Act" means The Gunshot and Stab Wounds Mandatory Reporting Act . Prescribed health care facilities 2 The following are designated as health care facilities for the purposes of the Act: (a) nursing stations in Easterville, Grand Rapids and Moose Lake operated by the provincial government; (b) nursing stations operated or funded by the federal government in the following communities: (i) Berens River, (ii) Bloodvein, (iii) Brochet, (iv) Cross Lake, (v) Garden Hill, (vi) Gods Lake Narrows, (vii) Gods River, (viii) Lac Brochet, (ix) Little Grand Rapids, (x) Negginan, (xi) Nelson House, (xii) Oxford House, (xiii) Pauingassi, (xiv) Pukatawagan, (xv) Red Sucker Lake, (xvi) St. Theresa Point, (xvii) Shamattawa, (xviii) South Indian Lake, (xix) Split Lake, (xx) Tadoule Lake, (xxi) Wasagamack, (xxii) York Landing; (c) hospitals operated by the federal government in Hodgson and Norway House. Disclosure obligations 3 The disclosure required by subsection 2(1) of the Act is to be made as follows: (a) in the case of a hospital as defined in The Health Services Insurance Act , by the chief administrative officer for the hospital or by persons employed at the hospital who have been designated as being responsible for disclosure under the Act by the chief administrative officer for the hospital; (b) in the case of a nursing station referred to in clause 2(a) or (b), by the nurse in charge of the nursing station or a person designated by the nurse in charge; (c) in the case of hospital referred to in clause 2(c), by the head nurse or director of nursing of the hospital or a person designated by the head nurse or director of nursing. Manner of disclosure 4 The disclosure required by subsection 2(1) of the Act is to be made orally to the local police service. However, if a health care facility is located outside of an urban centre, the disclosure may be made by e-mail or by regular mail if there is no telephone service at the facility or if telephone service at the facility is unavailable for an extended period. Coming into force 5 This regulation comes into force on the same day that The Gunshot and Stab Wounds Mandatory Reporting Act , S.M. 2008, c. 21, comes into force.
