This regulation designates certain Manitoba areas as sanitary areas and prohibits dumping contaminating waste there or building camps or buildings for timber, fishing, mining, or trapping without written permission from the minister or chief medical officer of health.

P210 Regulation 328/88 R Registered August 29, 1988 bilingual version (HTML) Definition 1 In this regulation, "chief medical officer of health" means the Deputy Minister of Health or such other officer of The Department of Health as may be designated in writing by the minister. Designated sanitary areas 2 The following described areas, all within the Province of Manitoba, are designated as sanitary areas: (a) Trout Lake - all that portion of Township 67, Range 29 west of the Principal Meridian in Manitoba shown bordered brown on a plan of Flin Flon and vicinity filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg as plan No. 1991A; (b) Sherridon - all that area surrounding Charlette Lake and its contributories, within the red boundary line as shown in plan No. 721 filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg, Manitoba; the area so described comprising what is known as the sanitary area around Charlette Lake in Northern Manitoba; (c) Snow Lake - all those portions of Township 68, Range 17, west of the Principal Meridian and Township 68, Range 18 west of the Principal Meridian in the Province of Manitoba required for a sanitary area as same is shown bordered red on a plan filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg as plan No. 5745; (d) Lynn Lake - all those portions of Townships 90 and 91 in Range 23 west of the Principal Meridian in Manitoba, shown outlined in red on a plan of the Townsite of Lynn Lake Sanitary Area, filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg as plan No. 7184; (e) Elie - all that portion of the east half of Section 19 in Township 11, Range 2 west of the Principal Meridian in Manitoba required for a sanitary area as same is shown bordered blue on a plan filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg as plan No. 7467; (f) Indian Bay - all that portion of fractional Section 11 in Township 8, Range 17 east of the Principal Meridian in Manitoba lying to the south end of High Lake Creek shown bordered green on a plan filed in the office of the Director of Surveys as plan No. 10049; (g) Indian Reserve No. 39 (part) - all that portion of Indian Reserve No. 39, in Manitoba lying to the south of High Lake Creek shown outlined in brown on aforesaid plan No. 10049; (h) Indian Reserve No. 40 (part) - all that portion of Indian Reserve No. 40 in Manitoba, as same is shown bordered red on aforesaid plan No. 10049; (i) Dunphy Lake - all those portions of unsurveyed land and land covered by water in Townships 88 and 89 in Ranges 26 and 27 west of the Principal Meridian in Manitoba as the same is shown contained within the limits bordered in red on a plan filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg as plan No. 16864A required for a sanitary area; (j) Alto Lake - all those portions of unsurveyed Townships 86 and 87 in Range 15 west of the Principal Meridian in Manitoba as the same is shown contained within the limits hatched on a plan filed in the office of the Director of Surveys at Winnipeg as No. 17756. Requirements in sanitary areas 3(1) No person shall deposit into, or on the ice of, or on the shores of, or on any portion of land that drains into, any body of water lying within a sanitary area, any human excreta, garbage, stable manure, offal, dead animal matter, decaying vegetable matter or any substance that, in any way, may contaminate the waters of that body of water, and tend to make the waters thereof unfit for human consumption. 3(2) No person shall erect or construct any buildings within any sanitary area, or establish a camp within a sanitary area, for the purpose of engaging in the business of cutting timber, commercial fishing, mining, or trapping, without first having obtained permission in writing from the minister or the chief medical officer of health.
