Statute overview

About this statute

This Act sets rules for collecting, using, disclosing, protecting, correcting, and accessing personal health information held by trustees. This provision lets trustees share personal health information for approved health research and with information managers, but only under stated safeguards, agreements, and consent limits. It also gives the Ombudsman investigation powers and sets complaint, review, appeal, offence, and penalty rules. The minister must review the Act within five years and report the review to the Legislative Assembly within one year after the review, unless the Assembly allows more time.
